Vintage Afifi Shrine Arab Patrol ceremonial captain’s jacket with two matching presentation gavels belonging to Ray Hyytinen of the Afifi Temple in Tacoma, Washington.

The green ceremonial jacket is extensively embroidered throughout the front, back, shoulders, and sleeves with Afifi Shrine insignia, scimitar/crescent motifs, decorative scrollwork, and a large Afifi emblem across the back. Front closure uses an ornate brass-tone chained clasp featuring Shrine imagery.

Included are two wooden gavels with engraved brass-tone plaques reading:

“AFIFI PATROL CAPTAIN RAY HYYTINEN”

and

“AFIFI ARAB PATROL CAPTAIN RAYMOND HYYTINEN.”

Afifi Temple’s Arab Patrol was an established Tacoma Shrine unit documented in period photographs and civic events during the 1960s and 1970s. Attached is an image from 1974 of members in the same uniform design.

Vintage pre-owned condition with light age-related wear to the jacket and hardware. Extensive embroidery remains bright and intact. See photos for measurements and condition.
