Final Fantasy Compendium

Catoblepas / Shoat

A large animal resembling a canine/bovine cross with red eyes. Its attack, "Demon's Eye", petrifies enemies. Its form is the most inconsistent between games, but its unusual name makes it a FF mainstay.

There's actually two Catoblepas's in this game: one is a mark, and one is the code name of one of the Imperial ships during the final assault.
