ANTIQUE JAPANESE SAMURAI BANNER NOBORI BOY’S DAY HAND PAINTED WARRIOR 212” x 28”:
This is a fabulous antique Boy’s Day banner from the Meiji Period (1868-1912).It depicts the famous warrior Kato Kiyomasa and Toyotomi Hideyoshi...both on horseback. The top part of the banner has the family crest or Mon of the Tachibana Clan (a powerfulclan of The Heian Period (794-1185). The banner is hand painted in vivid bright colors. It is invery good condition. No holes. Just a few almost insignificant age stains on the “white” unpainted part of the banner.See the last two magnified photos. It measures 212” x 28”. 18 1/2 feet x 2 1/4 feet
We could not get a picture of the banner in its full length, but the photos still show all of the paintings.ALSO, the painting (and our photos) is seen on both front and back of banner with hard to detect difference, some photosshow the reverse pictures.
